To mate or not to mate?

This is one of those questions that you should answer before buying a puppy. Even if you made this decision and purchased a puppy from titled parents with good pedigree, this is not enough.  Let us see into the terminology.

Many amateur dog owners confuse the concept of "breeding" and "reproduction " of dogs.
Reproduction - is to increase livestock of dogs. All street dogs do nothing but reproduce, mating with each other, entirely uncontrolled and without any rules. Breeding has nothing to do with reproduction. Male dogs are allowed to breeding with an expert’s excellent assessment and females with an estimation not lower than "very good", so that a good pedigree - is only half the battle. You need to take your pet to the exhibition and get an objective assessment of the expert.Quite oftenwhelpsof titled parents are not valued high and then they are not allowed to take part in  breeding, but sometimes vice versa, dog  without a pedigree can become the champion.

The essence and meaning of breeding is not merely increasing the number of Jack Russell Terriers, but improvement of the breed and the exterior, securing the desired quality, eliminating of defects, and promoting health of the breed. So, you took your dog to the Jack's show, where he was praised and has full right to participate in breeding.

And here again it is worth to determine, whether you can provide your dog at least a few brides? It happens that the owners of male dogs feel sorry for their pets."Well, let the dog try just once."Such owners must remember that if you let the dog mate, it will need new matings (which may not happen), will become anxious, will run away in search of a bride. If you are not going to mate the dog, then after three years his sexual desire will weaken and Jack will become calmer. There is nothing wrong if the dog won’t mate, do not worry. It will not affect his health.Look what happens in the wild nature, for example, among the wolves. There is onlyone dominant male in the pack. The rest are just there, without claiming to possess the female, and thus remain calm and healthy.

The opposite opinion exists it is concerning mating females. It is believed that mating, pregnancy, lactation, nurturing of puppies are beneficial to her health, as well as psycho-emotional state. Just watch out for mother that cares for her babies. She's all "in the image": I am a mother. She is proud, she fulfilled her destination, she lives a full life and she is happy. But there are exceptions, where the maternal instinct of the bitch is completely absent, and she throws her kids, she is not interested in them. That is when you, as the owner, will encounter great difficulties, feeding these "orphans". It is believed that in nulliparous females have more chances to be ill with cancer in old age, howeverthere is no statistical evidence to support this view. They are equally susceptible to oncological diseases.

And one more fact to ponder. Be sure to keep in mind that breeding puppies is not a profitable business, it is a very difficult task. Just imagine six eternally hungry and impatient 12-week-old puppies that stayed in your apartment. Though Jacks are small dogs, they can cause damage to your home, just as big dogs.
