Concern about the health of little Jack

Another tip: Take care in advance of the problem of choosing a veterinarian from the first days your pet had a doctor who knew the peculiarities of its growth and development and, where it is possible, observe him throughout his life. So that in case of an emergency, you will clearly know where to call. Where do you find your doctor Dolittle? It’s quite difficult and daunting question. You can take the coordinates of the veterinarian from the breeder of your puppy, you can consult with friends and acquaintances, perhaps you already have a certified doctor. His phone must always be at your hand.

Newborn puppies acquire their first immunity against various infectious diseases from mother's milk. But this immunity disappears at the age of a few weeks. At this time, the first vaccination is made to the puppies. By the time you will take your puppy from a breeder, the first vaccination should be made.

At 21 days of age the puppies, along with a nursing mother, they conduct deworming. This can be done with a suspension Drontal Junior Pyrantel or other suitable drug.

Below, we present a scheme of vaccination of puppies on the example of vaccine Nobivak (If you choose another vaccine, scheme may change, consult your veterinarian)

4-6 weeks

Nobivak Puppy DP or Nobivak Parvo-C against canine distemperandparvovirusenteritis

3-9 weeks

Nobivak PHPPi + Nobivak Lepto

against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus enteritis, parainfluenza, leptospirosis

12 weeks

Nobivak PHPPi + Nobivak Lepto + Nobivak Rabies revaccination against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus enteritis leptospiroea, vaccination against rabies

6-8 weeks

afterthe change of teeth Nobivak PHPPi + Nobivak Lepto revaccination against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus enteritis, parainfluenza, leptospirosis.

Re-vaccination is necessary, because puppy's immune system is under development and can’t create a strong immunity.

Rabies vaccination is not necessarily to do in 12 weeks, according to veterinary legislation it is necessary to make up before one year is passed. However, if you are going to exhibit Jack, keep in mind that without a rabies vaccination will not allow him to participate.

Also, if you're going on a trip with your pet on a train or plane, it must be vaccinated against rabies.
Later dogs vaccinate 1 time in a year.

When vaccination is required to make sure your Jack is healthy. This will make your veterinarian before inoculation. Do not forget to provide a

veterinary certificate for the receipt of the marks of vaccination. Keep in mind that if you have purchased the vaccine yourself and vaccinated the dog at home, you can’t make a mark in the veterinary passport.

You can walk with the puppy only 2 weeks after revaccination at 12 weeks, when lasting active immunity against infectious diseases developed.

Dehelmintization (Deworming)

Make dehelmintization the dog before vaccination in 8-9 weeks, 6-8 months, and then before each annual vaccination before 10-14 days of inoculation of Jack.

We need it because the presence of worms in dogs significantly weakens the immune system, and the necessary antibodies may not develop by the body after vaccination, so vaccination is not effective, and in addition, can cause serious harm to the body of a dog.

Caring for the ears

The new owners of the puppies often begin to clean ears to him unnecessarily. A healthy Jack should have a light pink color ears, odorless, with no signs of dirt or discharge, if the puppy’s ears are in this state, they do not need to be cleaned, because, frequent cleaning can put microflora of the ears which protects against various infections in disorder. If you see signs of discharge in the ear, dirt, then clean the ear with any lotion, which is great choice in pet stores. Dampen ear stick or a tissue by lotion and remove the selection. If they are copious and puppy shakes and scratches his ears, do not attempt to self-medicate, but go to the vet clinic, the doctor puts the correct diagnosis and prescribes the correct treatment.

Care for teeth

Young puppies do not require special care for teeth, because from 3 to 6 months, they have a change of milk teeth to permanent, and the formation of plaque and calculus, in this period does not occur. Puppy has just 32 milk teeth, and the adult dog has 42 constant teeth. During the teething  Jack raises the the dog needs to chew anything, so be careful, keep expensive items for you aside, in contrary they will certainly be chewed. Provide puppy with the chewing bones or convenient for chewing toys. Pay attention to how the permanent teeth grow. If a puppy’s tooth is still in place, and a new one has already cut out, make sure that in a few days the puppy’s tooth fell out and did not interfere with the growth of new one, otherwise permanent tooth can grow crooked. If the tooth doesn’t fall long time, contact your veterinarian. Accustom your Jack as a young child, to oral hygiene after the change of teeth. He has to get used to the procedure for cleaning the teeth. To do this, buy special toothpaste and brushes for dogs in the pet store. You can’t brush your dog's teeth by human toothpaste.

Eye Care

If Jack's eyes are sparkling, clean than the special care of them is not necessary. Moderate presence of discharge from eye puppy is absolutely acceptable, it may be dust, dirt, washed away by tears and accumulated in the inner corner of the eye. Remove it by cotton swab moistened with eye lotion, sleep tea or decoction of chamomile. If it is copious or purulent, contact your veterinarian, because this may be a sign of infection, including distemper.

Caring for nails

Do not wait until your puppy starts to walk and grind the claws on the asphalt. The fact that the claws grow very quickly and can start to curl or grow in the paw. Puppy’s foot can form improperly, become loose, that will interfere with the continuous load and when the dog will run. Cut the nails every 7-10 days. Do this by holding a puppy hanging, so it will be less resistance. Carefully inspect the claws. As a rule, they are bright . You will see a transparent (dead) and the pink part of the claw (live), which are the blood capillaries, Trim only the clear part of the claw, and do it very neat. If you accidentally injure Jack, he will forever remember this unpleasant procedure and all life will be afraid and try to avoid. Buy a special stuff for this procedure in the pet store, do not use regular nail clippers, they delaminate claws. Recently wonderful clipper went on sale, which exclude the possibility of injury.

Your Jack will change coat between 3 to 5 months. This period is expressed in abundant molting that can scare you by its intensity. But this is the usual process. So if you want it’ll go faster, pay a little more attention to your puppy’s grooming at this time. Comb his hair as often as possible, thereby you’ll help to remove dead wool. In addition, Jack accustomed to the process of combing from puppyhood and he will calmly react to this necessary procedure into adulthood.
